Carlhoff remains attached to the project mainly for the funding, but should an opportunity to be rid of Edgar and pursue the research and the success they have achieved so far he would make that switch without a second thought and zero regrets.

Moralistically Carlhoff is aware this is illegal but for the greater good he is willing to push boundaries, and with the ground breaking work from various universities in Europe including his home city of Vienna, he feels there is something of world shaking importance about to be revealed. He wants his place among the notables.
